With You in Mind offers three distinct styles of massage therapy: Clinical, Therapeutic and Relaxation.
Clinical massage focuses on correcting a physical problem, pain or dysfunction. A certified clinical massage therapist (C.C.M.T.) is state certified and has extensive training in massage therapy along with knowledge of anatomy and physiology. By addressing the deeper muscles of the body the therapist can reduce and often times correct 'range of motion limitations' and alleviate pain by using a variety of techniques. Heat may be applied along with a cold pack to relax the muscles and make them more responsive to the work. Often times, a therapist will recommend exercises and stretches for the client to work on at home thereby empowering the client with the ability to stay pain free.
Relaxation massage offers a gentle technique with light to firm pressure. Swedish massage is used to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. Swedish massage is exceptionally beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension. Warm towels and or hot stones may be used to promote relaxation.
Therapeutic massage helps to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia.
